Tiwatope Savage professionally known as Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. She began her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. She participated in the UK edition of The X Factor and graduated from Berklee College of Music. In 2009 Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Inspired by the growth of the Nigerian music industry, Savage moved back to Nigeria from England and signed with Mavin Records in 2012. She is an award winning artist and in 2019 she signed with Universal Music Group. Outside of her music career, Tiwa is involved in youth empowerment and breast cancer screening projects and she has also raised funds to build schools in Nigeria.
